Bilberry is said to promote the growth of collaterial arteries
which are new tiny arteries in the eye. Collaterial arteries also form when main arteries are blocked, like in the heart. The active chemical is bilberry is anthocyanidins. Billberry was also used to treat diabetic eye problems in Europe.
