Remedy Description

Ingredients

1 cup water

1/4 cup sugar

The basic formula is four parts water to 1 part sugar by volume, you can

adjust the recipe to make just the right amount to fill your feeder(s) as

long as the proportions remain the same. Bring the water to a boil and add

the sugar while stiRing constantly. When the water returns to a boil

remove the pan from the stove, cover and let cool. The boiling water not

only dissolves the sugar rapidly but also assures that the nectar is

sterile. Excess nectar may be stored in the refrigerator for several days.

Feeders should be refilled at least once a week and more often in very

warm weather and should be thoroughly washed before each refilling with

hot water to make the nectar last longer. If the nectar is cloudy it's

time to refill the feeder. All the feeders we sell are colored to attract

hummingbirds and adding red food coloring to the nectar is not necessary

and may be harmful.
