Remedy Description

"I've had sucess in lowering my cholesterol--not with expensive

"statin" drugs, but by using a combination of other foods and a dietary

supplement.

At age 65, my cholesterol was 288 despite an alteration in my diet.

My doctor prescribed Lipitor but after 90 days stopped it because of

adverse liver enzyme readings. So, we agreed to try an alternative therapy

I now use a dietary supplement called red yeast rice, a staple for

centuries in the traditional Chinese diet. Instead of using maragarine,

I've substituted Take Control, a soybean extract that contains sterol plant

esters. Also I sprinkle a packet of instant oatmeal over my usual

bowl of breakfast cereal. Within 2 months my cholesterol level dropped to

195, my "bad" LDL level to 120; and my "good" cholesterol has remained

normal.

There are no side effects, and these products are much less expensive than

prescription drugs. I wanted to share this with you and your readers."
