Aphrodisiacs an the potato peel cure

Remedy Description

Even potatoes were earlier believed to possess aphrodisiacal properties

(but that belief only prevailed when potatoes were scarce and expensive).

In Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Winsdor" Falstaff beseeches the "sky

to rain potatoes"for this reason.

Potato peels can sometimes reach a considerable level of alkaloid content,

which in turn could give rise to some physiological effects. Maybe this is

the reason behind the fad serving deep fried potato peelings
