Ingredients: Hydrogen Peroxide, Rubbing Alcohol, Dry Towel or Wash
Cloth Instructions: My mother would make my brothers and I get the peroxide, alcohol, and washcloth if we had a ear ache. We were to put our head into her lap with the bad ear facing up. She would put a capful of peroxide in and the fizzing would begin. She would pull on the ear to get in down as far as it could go to get the infection out. After a few minutes she would take thewash cloth and put on her lap and tell us to turn over to let it drain. As it was draining she would put peroxide in the other ear as a precaution. She would say to turn over and let it drain and shewould put alcohol in to dry it out and kill what was making it hurt. Turn and drain and alcohol in the other side. Turn and drain. Done and much better. Peroxide was fun with the fizzing and the alcohol would be cold at first but then a pleasant warmth would make you want to sleep. If she had cotton she would put it in to make the wind stay out. |
