"The seeds of fenugreek (trigonella foenum-graceum) have demostrated
significant anti_diabetic effects in experimenal and clinical studies. The active ingredient is in the defattened portion of the seed, and contains the alkaloid trigonelline, nicotinic acid, and coumarin. Administration of deflattened seeds (in daily doses of 1.5 to 2.0 grams per kilogram) to both normal and diabetic dogs, reduced after meals, and after fasting the levels of blood glucose, glucagon, somatosatin, and insulin, as well as total cholesterol and triglycerides. The level of HDL (good) cholesterol increased. Human studies have confirmed these effects. Defatened fenugreek seed powder, given twice daily in 50 gram dose, to insulin dependent diabetics, resulted in significant reduction in fasting blood sugar and improved glucose tolerance results. There was a 54% reduction in 24 hour urinay glucose excretion and significant reductions of LDL and VLDL cholesterol and triglycerides values. In non-insulin diabetics the addition of 15 grams of powdered fenugreek seeds soaked in water significantly reduced aftermeal glucose levels. These results indicate fenugreek seeds or defatted fenugreek seed powder." Editor: You can make a drink of fenugreek powder, psyllium, and mix in a little oatmeal.. than drink it right away between between meals. The drink slows down the absorption of glucose in the small intestine. Beware you shit may come out in lots of samll pieces. |
