I got bloody noses a lot as a kid and still get them sometimes. One time I had one that wouldn't
stop. I've never had one so heavy before or since, and I was starting to worry it would never stop. My mother, who is a doctor, had me do the standard lay-down-on-the-bed-and-pinch-the-nose thing, but when it still wouldn't stop, she had me put ice on my nose and the back of my neck. I guess the ice on my nose slowed the blood (because of the cold), and the ice on my neck slowed the blood flow to my head. |
